Composer Notes

Simply put, the Words and Verses project is about showcasing the Bible. The music attached to the selected verses is designed, intentionally, to capture the essence of what the Word of God has to say. The concepts of love, faith, forgiveness, blessings, strength, power, prophecy, healing, etc. are all exemplified through stories, teachings, and beyond, and in essence work together to establish the tenets of the Christian faith.

Sadly... far too many Christians live a life that they call spiritual, but without an actual intentional study of the scriptures. They worship in "their own way," living a prayer life according to what they feel is proper and required, but when it comes to understanding the Bible, they know nothing. They can quote movies and popular songs, but can't bring to light a verse from the Bible if their life depended on it. Unfortunately, this can be a result of weak leadership, poor understanding, or simple ignorance as to the importance that the Bible should reflect in the life of a believer.

It is for those reasons that this verse was selected as part of Foundation. Not only is it a segment from a less familiar voice (that of Joshua, as opposed to Moses, David, Jesus, etc.), but it speaks directly as to the question of why someone should study the Bible. Listen to Joshua's answer. Even in the Old Testament, the idea of studying the Word, and knowing it fully, was important. Knowing the scriptures, and applying them to daily life, was of huge importance. Taking the commandments of God with you on a day-to-day basis was a recipe for success... and it still is. Keep yourself in line with God's law and his plans, and you will be both prosperous and successful.

Musically this piece is designed to focus significantly on the idea of meditation, and that by meditating on the right things, you can achieve much. It's a slow build, with an establishment at the end of peace and abundance, all from staying in tune with and being true to the Word of God along the way.

From the Album Foundation

The above verse is a selection from the first release of The Words and Verses Project, which is currently in development. It is entitled “Words and Verses: Foundation.” Not only is it the first collection of works in the project, but the goal is that over the course of twelve compositions, multiple core foundational verses will be explored, setting the stage for future albums and themes.
